Meet The Instructors!
Karyn Blake
Karyn has been climbing since 2013, with a focus on bouldering and sport climbing. She has worked as a climbing instructor since 2015, and one of the most rewarding parts of her journey has been creating a welcoming space for women in the climbing community. Whether she's working on a new project or coaching someone through their first climb, she's passionate about sharing the stoke and helping others feel strong, confident, and at home on the wall. When she's not climbing, Karyn works as a full time Chemist and Supervisor.
Vera Naputi
Climbing since 1997, Vera has taught and participated in multiple ways as a climber, including ice and sport climbing, top-roping, and bouldering. She began teaching beginner classes at a time when the sport was far from mainstream, focusing specifically on women. She learned and grew from being a part of inclusive communities such as Madison Women Climbers, where she was a co-chair in the early part of its history, as well as organizations such as Women That Rock and Chicks with Picks. Vera finds joy climbing both indoors and out, and especially loves sport climbing. Aside from climbing, Vera is a high school teacher and equity consultant. One of her proudest achievements is raising her children to carry a lifelong respect and love for climbing and the community it builds.
